Jack Slater was a death metal band from Cologne and Bonn .

history

Jack Slater was founded in 1995 by Alexander "Sobo" Sobocinski and drummer Sebastian "Sepp" Mohneke. The name was taken from the action film Last Action Hero . 1996 was demo Depending in collaboration with singer Alex, a bassist with the pseudonym published "Blondie" and a second guitarist named Berndt. Before the first EP Crescendo , the line-up changed again. With Stefan Horn, who was already active in several small Grindcore and Death Metal bands, a new singer joined in 1998.

In 2001, the debut album Playcorpse was released and, after several line-up changes, in 2004 Metzgore . In May of the same year a tour with Benediction , Master and Divine Empire through Europe was planned, but this was canceled at short notice.

Founding member Sebastian Mohneke left the company in 2007. The band worked with session drummers (including Martin Below from Guerrilla) until David (including Ryse, T-Mushroom) joined them . In addition, Kevin Olasz (now with Deadborn ) joined as the new guitarist.

The album Blut / Macht / Frei was released on March 14, 2008 . The cover artwork was designed by Sven de Caluwe (actually the singer of Aborted ), while the music video for Amnestia was directed by the Bonn filmmaker Moritz Hellfritzsch . In April the group auctioned an appearance on the online auction house EBay .

In 2011 the band announced their breakup and played their last concert at the Metal in de Ränke Festival 2011 in Haltingen .

According to their own statement, the band plays "brutal, technical Death Metal". As a specialty, the songs up to and including the album "Blut / Macht / Frei" are provided exclusively with German lyrics. On the album "Extinction Aftermath" there are 2 songs with English lyrics. The lyrical content mainly includes horror and splatter scenarios, as well as cannibalism . With Rohrspast from the album Blut / Macht / Frei there is also a song in the band's repertoire in which they deal with right-wing extremism . The newspaper Bonner Express described the band as "Bonn's most disgusting band" against the background of the act of Armin Meiwes . Jack Slater adopted this categorization as a description.
