S-Share

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

China S-Shares are the shares of Chinese companies listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange .

The term is related to the domestically listed share classes A-Shares and B-Shares . Many Chinese public companies are also listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange . Due to this fact, the name H-Shares or H-Shares for the companies listed in Hong Kong has developed. A similar situation can be found in Singapore, where more than 100 Chinese companies are also listed on the local stock exchange. The designation S-Shares has thus developed for these companies. The 50 largest companies of the so-called S-Shares are summarized by the index provider FTSE Group in the FTSE ST China Index.

Due to regulatory peculiarities of the Chinese government, the listings of Chinese stock corporations currently have some peculiarities. Some investment restrictions are imposed on Chinese investors, which is why only the domestic stock exchanges (Shenzhen and Shanghai) are available for investment. This results in valuation premiums for the aforementioned A and B shares compared to the H shares and, in particular, compared to the S shares. Recently, however, there has been a noticeable trend towards loosening investment restrictions, giving residents more opportunities to invest in the lower-rated Chinese stocks abroad.
