The Singapore Exchange Ltd. ( SGX ) is a futures and securities exchange in Singapore . It was created on December 1, 1999 from the merger of the Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES) and the Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX). The stock exchange's leading index is the Straits Times Index .

In 2000, the Singapore Exchange became the first publicly traded exchange in the Asia-Pacific region. The offering is complemented in 2005 by a partnership with the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and in 2007 the company bought five percent of the Bombay Stock Exchange .

As of December 31, 2007, 762 companies were listed on the Singapore Exchange. These had a market capitalization of 539 billion US dollars . In January 2009, 768 companies, including 313 foreign ones, were listed. Its market capitalization was $ 385 billion. As of February 2018, its market cap was $ 799 billion.
