Dool is a Dutch rock band from Rotterdam . The band name is Dutch and means something like "wanders", so the verb "wandern" in the imperative .

history

Singer Ryanne van Dorst

In addition to singer Ryanne van Dorst, members of the band are bassist Job van de Zande, drummer Micha Haring (both formerly The Devil's Blood ) and the two guitarists Nick Polak and Reinier Vermeulen. Singer Ryanne van Dorst is intersex and has previously appeared as a guitarist in the band Bad Candy and entertainer under the pseudonym Elle Bandita . The group became known to a national audience during a performance at the Roadburn Festival 2016, followed by a record deal with Prophecy Productions .

The debut album Here Now, There Then was produced by Pieter Kloos and was released on February 17, 2017. The album reached number 46 in the German album charts and was named album of the month by German magazine Metal Hammer . Awarded Best Debut Album at the Metal Hammer Awards . In spring 2017 Dool was on tour through Europe as the opening act for the Polish folk rock band Me and That Man . In the summer followed its own headlining tour and an appearance at the Metal Days - Festival . A year later, Dool played at the Graspop Metal Meeting , Wacken Open Air , With Full Force , FortaRock Festival and Autumn Moon festivals .

The EP Love Like Blood was released on May 17th, 2019 . The theme song is a cover version of a song by Killing Joke . In addition, there are two live recordings from the performance at the Rock Hard Festival 2018. Dool played in 2019 at Hellfest in France. Reinier Vermeulen later left the band. His successor was Omar Iskandr, with whom Dool recorded her second studio album Summerland . The album was produced by Martin Ehrencrona and was released on April 10, 2020. The German magazine Rock Hard chose Summerland as album of the month and received the top rating of ten from editor-in-chief Boris Kaiser. The April edition included the EP Sketches of Summerland , which includes two tracks from the upcoming album and three live recordings from the 2018 Rock Hard Festival. Summerland entered the German album charts at number nine.

style

Her music style is settled between Progressive Rock and Doom Metal with influences from Psychedelic Rock and Gothic Rock . The musicians name The Sisters of Mercy and Sonic Youth as main influences . According to singer Ryanne van Dorst, alternative rock bands from the 1990s such as Alice in Chains , Nirvana , Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are part of the band's DNA .
