4Arm is an Australian thrash and groove metal band from Melbourne .

history

The band was founded in 2004 by guitarists Johnny Glovasa and Danny Tomb, bassist Andy Hinterreiter and drummer Michael Vafiotis. Tomb also took over the vocals. The debut album 13 Scars followed in 2005, followed by The Empires of Death in 2010 as a self-release. This was followed by tours all over Australia, as well as a tour together with Testament . The band then signed a contract with Rising Records , which in early February 2012 released the album Submission for Liberty . The album was mixed by Matt Hyde ( Slipknot , Machine Head , Trivium , Kreator ) and received reviews in Terrorizer and German Metal Hammer . Tours through the USA , Great Britain and Europe followed . In addition, the band went on another US tour together with Testament and Overkill . In 2012 the band also performed at the Download Festival . Then guitarist Johnny Glovasa left the band and should initially be replaced by Markus Johansson. Ultimately, however, James Munro joined the band as a live guitarist. This was followed by appearances in the USA together with Gojira and Slayer . In early 2014, front man Danny Tomb left the band.

style

According to Laut.de , the band was initially heavily influenced by groups like Pantera and Machine Head. On 13 scars , the grooves would usually move at medium speed . Influences from bands like Down , Orange Goblin and a little Tool can be heard on The Empires of Death . Submission for Liberty shows influences from Exodus and Slayer, while the singing is reminiscent of Ramallah 's. According to Thomas Strater from Metal Hammer, the band on Submission for Liberty play technically adept Thrash Metal, which is "jagged, straightforward and with an immense rocking and mosh factor". The album is comparable to the works of Trivium and Machine Head, mixed with tonal parallels to Thrash Metal from the San Francisco Bay Area .
