Altenfeld (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Altenfeld is a desert on the eastern slope of the Langen Rhön between Ilmenberg and Rother Kuppe . The place was at an altitude of 660 meters above sea level and is said to have been a stately village for the time. The place was first mentioned in 1228, but less than two hundred years later in 1412 the place was already called desolate. The village belonged at times to the Hennebergers , at times to the diocese of Würzburg . There are only remains of the wall from the site.
