Joaquim Bonifácio do Amaral , Visconde de Indaiatuba (born September 2, 1815 in Campinas , † November 6, 1884 ) was a Brazilian coffee producer and politician.

Life

Joaquim Bonifácio do Amaral was the son of Ana Matilde de Almeida Pacheco and José Rodrigues Ferraz do Amaral. He married his niece Ana Guilhermina Pompeu do Amaral. Her children included Elisma do Amaral, Euclides Egydio de Souza Aranha (* 1864, † 1929) and Olavo Egídio de Sousa Aranha .

Amaral headed the Partido Liberal , founded in 1831 , was elected a member of the legislative assembly of the São Paulo province in 1849 and then elected one of the province's two vice-governors. He was a supporter of abolitionism and a coffee farmer in Campinas. In 1852 he managed by the settlement of German slavery on his and Tyrolean wage workers Fazenda Sete Quedas from.

On May 19, 1869, Amaral founded and headed an independent Masonic Lodge. At a dinner on December 31, 1875, he handed 130 slaves charter. Amaral hosted Peter II of Brazil several times , including when he visited the Companhia Mogiana de Estradas de Ferro in 1872. On February 16, 1876, he was made a baron and on July 19, 1879, a Visconde and knight in the order added to the rose .

In 1882 he helped to move the dead of the liberal revolution of June 7, 1842 from the battlefield of the Batalha da Venda Grande to a public cemetery.
