Order of the Rose

The Order of the Rose or Rose Order was a Brazilian civil and military merit order that was donated on October 17, 1829 by Emperor Pedro I of Brazil on the occasion of his marriage to Amélie von Leuchtenberg . The order could also be given to foreigners. The emperor was a grand master.

Order decoration

The medal is a white enamelled gold six-armed star with a gold central shield. The front of the medallion has the initials PA (Peter and Amalie) and is surrounded by a dark blue ring with the inscription Amor e fidelidade .

The back of the medallion is white and, like the front, is surrounded by blue. Inside are the numbers August 2, 1829 and Pedro Amelia in the ring . The arms of the star are connected with a wreath of roses.

Carrying method

The first class wore the medal on a collar made of enameled roses and small labels . In addition, a separate star (medal is on a golden, serrated plate) with a green enamelled crown was worn on the chest. The II. Class wore the award on the large ribbon with breast star and the III. the cross and the star without a crown. Commander wore the star with a crown and the cross as a neck medal . Officers wore everything without a crown, both in their buttonholes and the knights only with the medal with a crown in their buttonhole.

The ribbon is pink with two white stripes.
