Olavo Egídio de Sousa Aranha (born October 1, 1862 in Campinas , † March 6, 1928 ) was a Brazilian banker and politician.

Life

Olavo Egídio de Sousa Aranha was a son of Elisma Amaral de Sousa Aranha and Joaquim Bonifácio do Amaral . He was married to Vicentina de Sousa Queirós de Sousa Aranha and their children were Francisca Egídio de Souza Aranha, Antônio Egídio de Sousa Aranha, Olavo Egídio de Souza Aranha Jùnior , Alfredo Egídio de Sousa Aranha and Renato Egídio de Sousa de Sousa.

Aranha was a lawyer and director of the Banco de Crédito Hipotecário e Agrícola do Estado de São Paulo . In addition, he was a member of the Partido Liberal (Brasil Império) and was repeatedly appointed finance minister and agriculture minister in the state of Sao Paulo and served first from May 1, 1904 to May 1, 1908 under Jorge Tibiriçá Piratininga, then from May 1, 1908 to on May 1, 1912 under Manuel Joaquim de Albuquerque Lins and finally from May 1, 1916 to May 1, 1920 under Altino Arantes.
