Shuhei Morita

Shūhei Morita ( Japanese 森田 修 平 , Morita Shūhei ; born June 22, 1978 in Nara Prefecture ) is a Japanese animator and director.

Life

Morita studied at the Kyoto University of Art and Design and graduated in 2001. The first films were made during his studies. He co-founded the animation studio KamiKaze Dōga in 1999 and founded the Yamatoworks studio with Daisuke Sajiki in 2003.

In 2012, Morita created the short animation film Tsukumo (English Possessions ) within five months , which was later included in the animation project Short Peace by Katsuhiro Otomo . Possessions ran in 2012 at the Festival d'Animation Annecy in the competition for the Cristal d'Annecy , Short Peace had its premiere on July 20, 2013 in Japan. Morita received an Oscar nomination for Possessions 2014 in the Best Animated Short Film category .
