Bliksem ( nl . ' Blitz ') was a Belgian thrash metal band from Antwerp that split up in 2017.
history
The band was founded in 2007 by guitarists Jeroen de Vries and Toon Huet and bassist Jan Rammeloo. At the same time, the drummer Rob Martin met the singer Peggy Meeussen in an Antwerp metal bar, who sang songs by AC / DC , Iron Maiden and Guns N 'Roses that evening . In 2010 the band recorded their self-titled EP in Antwerp and played numerous concerts in support of bands such as Channel Zero , Prong and Angel Witch . The highlight was the appearance at the Metaldays Festival in Slovenia . In summer 2012 the band recorded their debut album Face the Evil on that from Enslaved - keyboardist Herbrand Larsen mastered was. At the end of the same year, Bliksem was signed to the Spanish label Alone Records.
Face the Evil was released on February 22, 2013. In the same year the band performed at the Graspop Metal Meeting . The second studio album by the band Gruesome Masterpiece was released on August 28th, 2015. Bliksem performed again at the Graspop Metal Meeting that same year. A year later there followed appearances at Wacken Open Air and at Summer Breeze as well as tours in the opening act for Sacred Reich and Metal Church . On February 17, 2017, the band played their last concert in Antwerp and then broke up. Bassist January Rammeloo then moved up to the band Diablo Blvd .
