Igorrr is a project by the French musician Gautier Serre (born June 5, 1984 ), in which metal , breakcore and baroque music are combined.

history

Serre released demo albums under the name Igorrr in 2006 and 2008 . In 2010 his debut album Nostril was released on the Berlin label Ad Noiseam. In the same year Aentitainment released the EP Baroquecore . Hallelujah followed in 2012 . In 2017, Metal Blade Records released Savage Sinusoid . On this album, Igorrr is a band for the first time, not a solo project anymore. In addition to Serre, the band consists of the singers Laurent Lunoir and Laure Le Prunenec and the drummer Sylvain Bouvier. The album includes numerous guest appearances, including Travis Ryan ( Cattle Decapitation ), Adam Stacey ( Secret Chiefs 3 ) and Teloch ( Mayhem ).

In 2018 Igorrr accompanied Ministry on a US tour. The project has performed at numerous festivals including Heavy MONTRÉAL , Dour Festival , Roadburn Festival , Montreux Jazz Festival , Metaldays , Download Festival , Brutal Assault , Hellfest .

Besides Igorrr, Serre is a member of the bands Whourkr and Corpo-Mente.

style

Igorrr's music combines elements of numerous musical styles, including breakcore , black and death metal , baroque and folk music. Typical metal instruments such as drums , electric bass , electric guitar , as well as piano , drum machine , classical guitar , accordion , mandolin , harpsichord , sitar , saxophone , recorder and string instruments are used . Serre also uses everyday objects as instruments. The singing also ranges from growling to opera singing .

On the project's website, Meshuggah , Frédéric Chopin , Cannibal Corpse , Johann Sebastian Bach , Domenico Scarlatti , Taraf de Haïdouks and Aphex Twin are named as inspirations. In addition, Serre named Mike Patton and especially Mr. Bungle as important influences in an interview .
