Infernal Tenebra is a Croatian melodic death metal band from Pula in Istria , which was founded in 1999.
history
The band was founded in 1999 by singer and guitarist Lari Šain, guitarist Igor Jurišević, bassist Paolo Grižonić and drummer Danijel Biloslav as a black metal project. In 2001 the debut album Beneath the Twilight was released , on which keyboardist Alex Paoletić could be heard as an additional member. In the years that followed, guitarist Jurišević in particular changed the musical direction of the band towards Melodic Death Metal, so that everyone except him and bassist Paolo Grižonić left the band. After the release of two demos and after several line-up changes, singer and guitarist Darko Etinger and drummer Sandi Orbanić joined the line-up and work on the second album began. The Essence Of Chaos was also self-published in 2007. In 2012, the third album New Formed Revelations followed on Massacre Records . The album was mixed in Sweden by Jens Bogren .
style
The band began as a "pure" black metal band. Main influences were Death , Hypocrisy , Emperor and Dissection . The later works can be assigned to Melodic Death Metal, with some elements from Thrash Metal being processed. The guitar playing is “clearly Scandinavian”. The style has been described as a mix of Dark Tranquility and Diablo . Nowadays the band names Death, Hypocrisy, Emperor and Gojira as influences.
Early song titles like Beyond the Dark Side , Eternal Evil , A Rapture in Darkness and Towards the Endless Fire are based on Black Metal. The lyrics of later releases, however, deal mainly with topics such as human nature, social change and “true values of life” and therefore have nothing to do with Black Metal, as it traditionally deals with Satanism . The title of the album New Formed Revelations refers to humanity, which is left to itself to reflect on its decisions. It is about fallen leaders and regimes as well as people fighting for their place in a society that has no place for them.
