Lost Society is a Finnish thrash metal band from Jyväskylä .

history

The band was founded in January 2010 by the then 14-year-old guitarist Samy Elbanna. The first drummer , not known by name , left the band after six months. His successor was Ossi Paananen. The band was completed by the guitarist Arttu Lesonen and the bassist Mirko Lehtinen, who come from Elbanna's circle of friends. Since Lost Society couldn't find a suitable singer , Elbanna took over the vocals without further ado.

In August 2011 the band released their self-titled demo with three songs and played numerous concerts. A year later Lost Society took part in the global talent competition Global Battle of the Bands . Although the registration deadline was missed, the band was allowed to take part in the preliminary round in Jyväskylä, which Lost Society won. After the band also won the Finnish final, Lost Society took third place at the global final on December 9, 2012 in London . The demo took ninth place in the 2012 Finnish Metal Awards in the Demo / In-House Production of the Year category .

In the meantime, the band was signed to the German record label Nuclear Blast at the end of October 2012 . The debut album Fast Loud Death was recorded in Helsinki under the direction of producer Nino Laurenne . It was released on March 15, 2013. The album debuted at number 25 on the Finnish album charts and was nominated at the Emma Awards in the category of Metal Album of the Year . However, the award went to Children of Bodom for the album Halo of Blood .

In January 2014 the band played their first European tour as a support act for the Suicidal Angels . On April 4, 2014, the second studio album Terror Hungry was released. The album was again produced by Nino Laurenne.

style

Lost Society play classic Thrash Metal from the 1980s and early 1990s. In an interview, Samy Elbanna counted the bands Anthrax , Pantera and Municipal Waste among the musicians' greatest influences. Also Megadeth is mentioned as an influence.
