Emma (Award)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Emma is the highest Finnish music award. With the exception of the years 1988 to 1990, it has been awarded by Musiikkituottajat in various categories to important national artists since 1983 . The award gala will be broadcast live on Finnish television .

In the first year there were still five categories: best male artist ( Miessolisti ), best female artist ( Naissolisti ), best band ( Vuoden yhtye ), best hit song ( Vuoden iskelmä ) and an honorary Emma ( Erikois-Emma ), who attended Juice Leskinen left. Since then, however, new categories have been added. At the award ceremony on March 10, 2007, 19 Emmas were awarded for 2006.

Since 2004 there has also been a category for the best foreign band or the best foreign artist, which, however, is determined by the audience. The Emma in this category has gone twice to Iron Maiden (2004, 2006). German bands who were honored with this award were Rammstein in 2005 , Tokio Hotel for 2007 and 2009 and The Baseballs in 2010 .
