The Baseballs are a 2007 Berlin founded band , both in rock 'n' roll style covert writes as well as her own songs in this style.

history

The three band members - Sam from Reutlingen , Digger from Rheine in the Münsterland and Basti from Magdeburg - got to know each other in the communal kitchen of a rehearsal room complex in Berlin and founded the band after a few rehearsals together. During their performances and in the studio, the three singers are supported by their four-piece live band (piano, guitar, drums, double bass).

After first studio recordings in the late summer of 2007, they received a record deal with the major label Warner Music Germany in October 2008 . The debut album was produced by the Berlin producer team JMC Music. On May 1, 2009 her first single " Umbrella " was released, a cover version of Rihanna's number one hit , which was able to place in the German single charts. The debut album "Strike" was released in mid-May, reached number 6 in Germany and even reached number 2 on the album hit parade in Switzerland. Except in the German-speaking countries, they were very successful in the remaining parts of Europe. In Finland, both “Umbrella” and the album reached number 1 in their respective charts in early November . The single went platinum in Finland. Her album also rose to number 1 in the charts in January and February 2010 in Sweden and Norway . In addition to triple platinum in Finland, they also achieved platinum in Switzerland, Sweden and Norway. On January 29, 2010, they appeared on the Norwegian-Swedish talk show Skavlan .

On February 4, 2010, The Baseballs received the Emma Award , the highest honor in the Finnish music world, for the best-selling album of 2009. Exactly one month later, on March 4, 2010, they won the German Echo Music Prize in the Newcomer National category .

In spring 2010 the album Strike was released in other European countries. Among other things, it reached number 1 in Belgium and number 2 in the Netherlands. On January 12, 2011, The Baseballs won the EBBA (European Border Breaker Awards) and the Public Choice Award.

In April 2011 the second album Strings 'n' Stripes was released first in Finland and Norway, later also in Germany and other European countries. In Germany the album rose to number 5 in the charts. The Baseballs played a sold out European tour from late September to early November .

On August 1, 2011, The Baseballs and General Mills, the manufacturer of the Haagen-Dazs ice cream , published a title specially written for the campaign called "Wha Wha" as part of an advertising campaign with Cosma Shiva Hagen . This is freely available and could be downloaded free of charge from the German website of the Häagen-Dazs brand .

As part of the Strings 'n' Stripes tour, a concert recording was made on February 28, 2012 in Cologne's E-Werk , which was released on CD, DVD and Blu-ray on May 25 .

In 2013 The Baseballs played on DJ Bobo's album "Reloaded". They recorded a new version of the summer hit "Chihuahua" with him.

On March 13, 2014 The Baseballs with Mo Hotta Mo Betta and Goodbye Peggy Sue took part in the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest . However, they didn't make it past the first round of voting, in which they sang Mo Hotta Mo Betta .

On March 28, 2014, Game Day was released , their first album containing mainly self-written songs for the first time, including Mo Hotta Mo Betta and Goodbye Peggy Sue .

In 2016, Hit Me Baby ... another album with cover versions of well-known girlies , girl and boy groups from the 1990s was released .
