Sarcasm is a Slovenian thrash metal band from Škofja Loka , which was founded in 1987, disbanded in 1994 and has been active again since 1998.

history

The band was founded in 1987 by guitarist Aleš Blaznik and bassist Sandi Dolinar. The line-up was supplemented by the drummer Matjaž Kacin, the guitarist Matjaž Hudobivnik and the singer Osim Čehić. In 1989 the debut album Crematory followed , which has a circulation of 3,000 compact cassettes and was sold out throughout Yugoslavia a short time later . The publication was followed by a tour of Yugoslavia, with performances in the country's largest cities. In 1990 the group also performed with Motörhead . The concert in the Hala Tivoli was broadcast on national television, which significantly increased the band's popularity. The band broke up in 1994, but found themselves together again in 1998 with a different line-up. In 2001, On Parole Productions released the album Igra narave , followed by Divja kri in 2003 and Revolt in 2006 . In 2007 the group was formed by Nuclear War Now! Productions discovered. About this the debut album was re-released in the same year. The next album Something to Believe In was released in 2011, followed by the 2012 singles Z mano je slabo and Pravica, followed by the 2013 album Thrash . In 2016 the group could be seen at the Metaldays . In their career, the group has so far performed with Slayer , Sepultura , Holy Moses , Desaster and Kreator and has also been represented at several larger festivals.

style

Lior "Steinmetal" Stein from metal-temple.com wrote in his review of Crematory that it contains some technical Thrash Metal that occasionally uses elements from Speed Metal as well as melodic Metal . He drew comparisons to the Destruction of the early 1980s, Iron Maiden , Astharoth , early Voivod and Wolf Spider . Compared to other groups, however, the band is less aggressive and “heavy”. According to Peter Kubaschk from Powermetal.de , Igra narave is “a groovy mid-tempo variant of Thrash Metal”. In five of the seven new songs, the band sings in their mother tongue. There are also varied riffs and clever song structures in the songs . The vocals fluctuate "between aggressive screams and high notes , almost reminiscent of Kai Hansen ". Compared to the debut album, there is hardly any stylistic difference, except that the speed of the songs was higher back then and the lyrics were all in English . Yiannis Dafopoulos from metal-temple.com found that Revolt only offers uninspired Thrash Metal. Not only does the band sound too retro (the sound would suit a band from the early 1980s better), but also too unprofessional. Instead, he would prefer an Onslaught album .
