Tribulation ( . English , tribulation ') is a Swedish death metal - tape of Arvika .

history

The band was founded in 2001 under the name Hazard and played Thrash Metal on the first two demos in the style of bands from the San Francisco Bay Area such as Exodus and Slayer . In 2004 the band renamed themselves and changed their style to death metal . The new band name came from a line of text from the Morbid Angel song Visions from the Darkside from the album Altars of Madness . Jakob Johansson joined the band as the new drummer during this period. In 2006, the Swedish publication underground - label Blood Harvest Records, the vinyl - EP Putrid Rebirth , following followed by several regional concerts. In early 2009, the debut album The Horror was released on the Singaporean label Pulverized Records . Tribulation then toured Europe in April and May as the opening act for the US bands Vital Remains and Order of Ennead . In 2019 the band was awarded the Swedish Grammis music prize in the hard rock / metal category.

There are some personal overlaps between Hazard and Tribulation and the heavy metal band Enforcer , also from Arvika . Adam Zaars, Jonas Wikstrand, Olof Wikstrand and Joseph Tholl played in both bands.

style

The band plays fast Death Metal influenced by Morbid Angel and Autopsy with lyrics from the field of horror literature . The corresponding illustrations on sound carriers , merchandise and websites come from the two guitarists of the band Adam Zaars and Jonathan Hultén, who use the pseudonyms Bells of Death and Necromantic Art in their work. Both also designed artwork for other Swedish bands such as Enforcer , Feral and Stench.
