Grammis / hard rock / metal
The Grammis is a Swedish music award that is awarded from 1969 to 1971 and since 1987. The hard rock / metal category was introduced in 1993.
About the price
Only Swedish bands that are stylistically active in the fields of hard rock and metal are eligible for the award . However, bands from the punk or hardcore genres were also nominated. Initially the category was called Hårdrock and from 2000 Årets Hårdrock . After all, the category has been called Årets Hårdrock / Metall since 2011 . From 1993 to 2002 and 2009 the choice was made from four nominated albums, while five albums have been nominated since 2003. In 2008 ten albums were nominated.
The first award winner was the band Sator for their album Headquake . The most successful artists with three awards each are Ghost and In Flames . The Backyard Babies , Candlemass , Graveyard , Mustasch and The Haunted each received two prizes . Ghost and Graveyard were so far the only bands that could win the award twice in a row. In contrast, the band Hammerfall was nominated seven times and the band Entombed five times, without these bands being able to win a prize.
