Reroute to Remain is the sixth studio album by the Swedish melodic death metal band In Flames . The album, which fans often abbreviate RTR or R2R, was released on September 2, 2002 via Nuclear Blast and contains 14 songs.

History of origin

All 14 titles were written by Björn Gelotte , Jesper Strömblad and Anders Fridén . Fridén wrote all the lyrics. However, he was supported by his partner Helena Lindsjö in the songs Reroute to Remain and Dismiss the Cynics . The artwork was designed by Niklas Sundin ( Dark Tranquility guitarist ).

The subtitle of the album is "14 songs of conscious insanity" ( English : 14 songs of conscious insanity). The album was produced by Daniel Bergstrand. The band changed their sound away from classic Melodic Death Metal and incorporated more modern elements into their music.

reception

Many old fans criticized the band and accused them of selling out because of the Nu-Metal elements. Nevertheless, In Flames could win many new fans with this album. The band made their breakthrough in the US metal market and were invited to the Ozzfest tour. The Metal Hammer voted the album "Album of the Month".

Video clip

The video clip shows the band during a concert. In the background, the musicians from Soilwork are faded in, who constantly whistle in In Flames and poke at the band. The Soilwork video for Rejection Role shows the same situation, but the other way around. Some fans believed that there was serious tension between the two bands. In reality, however, the musicians of both bands are close friends.
