Mikael Bengt Stanne (born May 28, 1974 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish singer and guitarist . Since 1994 he has been the singer of the metal band Dark Tranquility .

life and career

In 1989 Stanne was one of the founding members of the band Septic Broiler, which later renamed itself to Dark Tranquility. In the beginning he was a rhythm guitarist and background singer . In 1994 he helped the band In Flames as a singer and can be heard on the In Flames debut album Lunar Strain . Contrary to popular belief, he was never a member of In Flames. Between 1993 and 1996 Stanne was the singer of the power metal band Hammerfall . After he couldn't keep an appointment by Hammerfall at a rock competition, he left the band and was replaced by Joacim Cans . After the original dark tranquility singer Anders Fridén left the band and switched to In Flames, Mikael Stanne became the new dark tranquility singer.

In 2005 Stanne appeared on the night-time album Descent into Chaos together with At-the-Gates singer Tomas Lindberg as a guest singer. In September 2010 he was heard in the song Weather the Storm by the Finnish band Insomnium , with whom he was on tour in Europe with Dark Tranquility at the time.

For the video game Metal: Hellsinger , which is due to appear in 2021 , he lent his vocals alongside Matt Heafy , Alissa White-Gluz and Björn Strid .
