Glory to the Brave (English for: " Glory for the brave ") is the first studio album by the Swedish power metal band Hammerfall . Even though the band was founded in 1993, this album was only released in 1997, as the band had previously mainly dealt with live music and covers . As early as 1996 the album was released in Hollandin collaboration with the Dutch label Vic Records . After a contract with the German label Nuclear Blast was signedat the beginning of 1997, it was released throughout Europe in the same year.
The album became a worldwide success and entered the German charts at number 36. It sparked a new metal boom in Europe after traditional heavy metal had already been pronounced dead in the 1990s. The German magazine Visions led Glory to the Brave on their published 2019 list of Swedish 55 best rock albums.
