Johansson is different
Anders Johansson (born May 25, 1962 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish drummer. He gained fame as a member of Yngwie Malmsteen's band and through Hammerfall . He has been the drummer for Hulkoff since 2017 and Manowar since 2019 .
Life
Johansson comes from a family of musicians. His brother Jens is the keyboard player of Stratovarius . His father Jan was one of the most famous jazz pianists in Scandinavia.
Johansson grew up mainly in Stockholm . Later in Malmö too . At the age of thirteen he began to learn to play the drums by himself. He had previously taken piano lessons with his brother Jens for five years.
Johansson found his military service extremely boring, but his lieutenant let him practice the drums for a few hours.
From 1984 to 1989 Johansson played with his brother for Yngwie Malmsteen. From 1999 to 2014 he played with the power metal band Hammerfall. David Wallin succeeded him for the post of drummer at Hammerfall .
In 2004 Johansson played live drums in his brother's band, Stratovarius .
In 2017 he and his sons Niklas and Karl joined Pär Hulkoff and thus completed his “Hulkoff” project. He also plays with his sons in the band Strokkur .
Johansson owns his own record company. His nickname is "Swedish Tank".
In March 2019 it was announced that Anders Johansson is active in the American metal band Manowar .
