LOK was a Swedish nu-metal band from Partille .

history

The band was formed in 1995 in Partille, a suburb of Gothenburg . Forerunners were the two rock bands "PsychoBetaBuckDown" (with Martin as singer) and "Hyperbug" (with Johan as bassist). Both bands shared a rehearsal room and played together a few times. These two bands were also first and second in a local band competition in 1994. Johan Reivén then switched from bass to his original instrument, the drums. They still needed a guitarist and found Daniel Cordero from the band “In a Pig's Eye” and Thomas Brandt from the Judas Priest cover band “Just as Priest”.

The band's first rehearsal took place in August 1995. For the first 10 minutes of this rehearsal, Westerstrand sang in English, but then fooled around and started singing in Swedish . It sounded strange and they decided to move on to Swedish lyrics. The band's name, which is an abbreviation for “ railroad ” in Sweden, was chosen based on their musical style: “heavy, unyielding and completely overwhelming”!

They won two major competitions over the next nine months, which was rewarded with the production of two singles . Her first music album was released in November 1996 and contained six songs. The band signed their first contract with the record label Stockholm Records in the summer of 1997 and recorded their second album in 1998. In the same year they played for the first time at the Hultsfred Festival , in 2000 they played on the Green Stage of the Roskilde Festival in front of 17,000 people.

The last time LOK performed was in Malmö in autumn 2002 . The last time they played was in Gothenburg a few days earlier. The gig was recorded and the live album became their final release. After problems among the members, the band was dissolved. They stated that they had shown Sweden that hardcore could be done in the Swedish language, and that after five albums it would serve its purpose. So there is no reason to go on.

The two original members of the band, Martin Westerstrand and Daniel Cordero formed the band Rallypack with two new members in 2004 and released “Sod Off, God! We Believe In Our Rockband “the only album under this name. Rallypack was renamed Lillasyster in 2006 and released the debut album “Hjärndöd musik för en hjärndöd generation” (brain-dead music for a brain-dead generation) in May 2007.
