The Shape of Punk to Come (Subtitle: A Chimerical Bombination In 12 Bursts) is a music album by the Swedish band Refused , named after Ornette Coleman's album The Shape of Jazz to Come . It was released in 1998 on Burning Heart Records and is assigned to the genre Hardcore Punk . It was the last, but most successful, album by the band before the temporary breakup in 1998.

meaning

Refused were a political band. Her CD booklets and texts were manifestos of her anti-capitalist convictions (“Capitalism is organized crime”). The special thing about this album is the extensive use of samplers and keyboards, which makes the sound more versatile. There are quiet parts that alternate with hard guitar riffs , then sequences that are reminiscent of drum and bass . Above that lies the voice of Dennis Lyxzen, which adapts to the respective song structure; sometimes screaming, sometimes calm. Nevertheless, the song title “Refused are fuckin dead” already gives a premonition of the further development of the band. 1998 was not only the year this album was released, but also the year Refused was temporarily disbanded.
