The album title is the German translated deaf- mute -blind and refers, according to singer Zak Tell the media -Overkill. More and more TV channels and newspapers would confuse people because of the information overload, because people's capacity would be exhausted.
"Human fates are only perceived as a media event, as a result of which the feeling for reality increasingly disappears, until one is then deaf, stupid and blind."
With the song Nigger , the band criticized black minorities, especially those from the US hip-hop culture , who use the word " nigger " for themselves. Originally, the word was used by whites as a derogatory term for people with dark skin. Catch Me is about a person who jumps from a great height with suicidal intent. Shortly before the impact, the death person feels more alive than when he was still alive.
On the back of the album it says that Deaf Dumb Blind is "loaded" with samples , loops and no guitar amps . This is a reference to the band Rage Against the Machine , who wrote in the booklet of their debut album that no samples, keyboards or synthesizers were used.

Reviews
The German magazine Metal Hammer named Deaf Dumb Blind album of the month. Martin Gross described it as "fascinating" how Clawfinger "processed the essences from Faith No More , Body Count , Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Suicidal Tendencies into mostly hit songs". From the album speaks “the courage to come up with unusual ideas that are still understandable”. Deaf Dumb Blind would be "the album that Faith No More should have released after The Real Thing ". Gross awarded seven out of seven points.
Marcus Schleutermann from the German magazine Rock Hard described the album as "a more than impressive debut", which would be "a hit for fans of bands like Rage Against the Machine , Faith No More, Sator or the Barbie Bones ". Towards the end of the season, however, you would "simply miss the oomph, the structured structures, the cool breaks and the enormous catchiness", which is why Schleutermann awarded 8.5 out of ten points.
