The Sahara Hotnights are a rock band whose members come from Umeå and Robertsfors in Sweden .
history
The band formed, influenced by groups like Nirvana and Pearl Jam, in the first half of the 1990s, when the members were between 9 and 10 years old; since 1996 they officially play under the name Sahara Hotnights. Consisting of Maria Andersson, Josephine Forsman and the sisters Jennie and Johanna Asplund, the band had their breakthrough in 1997 at a youth festival, where they won funding for an EP recording. Suits Anyone Fine was released that same year. Signed by the Swedish label Speech, they released their first album C'mon, Let's Pretend , which sold 40,000 times a little later .
Nirvana - drummer and Foo Fighters founder Dave Grohl became one of the band's most prominent fans after Sahara Hotnights supported the Foo Fighters .
2001 her second album was released by BMG : Jennie Bomb .
The time between Jennie Bomb and the next album spent Sahara Hotnights mainly on tour, where they tried to support other emerging bands in their careers. Particularly noteworthy here are the hives .
In 2004 the album was released with the title Kiss & Tell . Three years later, in April 2007, What If Leaving Is A Loving Thing was released , which is more pop-heavy than its predecessor. The band went on an extensive tour in Sweden and played to the most sold out houses. In May 2008, Sahara Hotnights signed a contract with Bad Taste Records. What If Leaving Is A Loving Thing was released in autumn 2008 in many European countries and the band toured Europe. In February 2009 the cover album Sparks was released in Sweden . For the past ten years, Sahara Hotnights have had a cover version in their live repertoire. These ten tracks are now collected on one album.
useful information
The game Burnout 3: Takedown , which was released in September 2003 under EA Games , contains the song Hot Night Crash from the album Kiss & Tell in the soundtrack .
