Robertsfors is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County and the historical province of Västerbotten . The place is located 60 km northeast of Umeå on the European route E4 and is the capital of the municipality of the same name .
history
Robertsfors is an old industrial place. In 1758 a steel works was founded, which was expanded in 1782 with a hammer mill and other facilities. In the course of further development a port, a shipyard etc. a. The Robertsfors – Sikeå railway was also built in 1878. The iron and steel works were shut down in the 1890s and today there is an industrial museum on its site.
economy
The industrial company ABB once had a factory in Robertsfors, known as ASEA, which produced industrial diamonds. Most recently, industrial diamonds were made by "Element Six", but they relocated to Africa. Sweden's northernmost glassworks , where hand-blown glasses are made, was once located in the village.
