Coma is an Italian thrash metal band from Cagliari that was founded in 2002.
history
The band was formed in the summer of 2002 during a jam session and consisted of singer and guitarist Antonio Sanna, guitarist Emanuele Mura, bassist Fabio Sinibaldi and drummer Davide Casti. Work on the first songs began in September. At the same time, a decision was made about the band name, which was to read Coma after the overkill song of the same name . Over the next ten years, the line-up changed several times while the band wrote their debut album. In 2009 a first demo was released , which contains the three songs No Love (Only Hate) , Last Aim and Old Man . In 2012 the band recorded their debut album. In November and December, Master went on a European tour . Then Daniele Manca joined the line-up as the second guitarist. In January 2013, the debut album Mindless was released via Punishment 18 Records . The vocals for this had been recorded in the V-Studio and everything else in the band's own studio. The material had been mixed by Riccardo Atzeni and mastered by Ettore Rigotti . In the song Again the are Forbidden guitarist Craig Locicero and My Venom Inside and Again bassist Riccardo Atzeni be heard as a guest musician. Both songs were released as singles, while a music video was also made for the former. In the same year the group also took part in the Metal Days in Slovenia . In their career, the band has played with Testament , Brujeria , Mnemic , Gama Bomb , Pino Scotto , Extrema and Destrage, among others .

In the band biography on comathrash.com , Thrash Metal bands from the 1980s and 1990s such as Metallica , Anthrax , Overkill, Testament, Slayer and Forbidden are listed as influences. Marcel Rapp from Powermetal.de wrote in his review that the debut album started with fast riffs and double bass . Overall, the group is based on Thrash Metal from the San Francisco Bay Area and Germany . The song Again is characterized by groove , while No Love… is technically demanding and My Venom Inside and Under Attack are quite fast. In the latter song, influences from Mille Petrozza can be heard. Walter from metal.de also described the music as a mix of Bay Area Thrash Metal in the style of Exodus , Forbidden and early Metallica and German bands of the genre such as early Kreator and Destruction. Again is characterized by groove and has similarities with the band Overkill. The group also makes use of tempo changes in their songs.
