Betzefer is a metal band from Tel-Aviv , Israel , that was founded in 1998.

history

The band was formed in 1998 by singer Avital Tamir, guitarist Matan Cohen and drummer Roey Berman. The band was initially only founded for one gig at their school (hence the name Betzefer: from the Hebrew בית ספר, Beit Hasefer , dt. 'School'). This resulted in further appearances in various local clubs. In 2000 the first EP called Pitz Aachabar was released . The following year another EP called Some Tits, But No Bush was released .

In 2003 the next EP appeared with New Hate . In the same year bassist Rotem Inbar also joined the band. Sven “Svencho” de Caluwé, a friend of the band and singer of the band Aborted , heard about Betzefer and got in touch with producer Kris Belaen . The band traveled to Belgium to record their debut album Down Low . In addition, the band played in the Netherlands as the opening band for Fear Factory and reached a contract with Roadrunner Records , with which the album should be released. It was mixed by Tue Madsen ( Mnemic , The Haunted , Illdisposed ).

At the end of May 2005 he performed in Germany together with Ektomorf and Soulfly . The album Down Low was released in early June . This was followed by international tours with Soulfly, Lamb of God and Sepultura .

In 2008 the band went back to the studio and recorded the second album Freedom to the Slave Makers . It wasn't until the beginning of February 2011 that the album was released via AFM Records . In 2013, the next album The Devil Went Down to the Holy Land was released via Steamhammer / SPV .

In 2016 the band released a first song with the new singer Aharon Ragoza with the video for Never Been.

style

Characteristic for the band is the rough vocals, which also have melodic passages. Another feature are the groovy passages in the songs. Betzefer's works are compared with those of Pantera and Sepultura.
