Tsjuder is a Norwegian black metal band that was formed in 1993, disbanded in 2006 and reunited in 2009. The name of the band is derived from the northern Russian tribe of the Tschuden , who played a role in the Norwegian film Pathfinder ( Veiviseren ).

history

Tsjuder was founded in 1993 by Berserk on guitar and Nag (vocals and bass). A year later Draugluin joined the band as the second guitarist. A number of songs were written, but they were never published because the band had no drummer. In 1995 the demo recording Ved Ferden's end was released, although the band still did not have a drummer. Shortly afterwards, Berserk left the band.

A new drummer was found in Torvus in 1996, but he had to leave the band after the second demo possessed . He was replaced in 1997 by Desecrator and a second man on guitar was resumed with Diabolus Mort. The first EP Throne of the Goat was released on Solistitium Records.

In 1998 the band was hardly active, as Nag was in the army and Desecrator and Diabolus Mort lost interest in the band. Nag and Draugluin, meanwhile, carried on Tsjuder and continued to write songs. The debut album was planned; The drums were to take over from Gehenna's Blod , while Isvind's Arak Draconiiz was the second guitarist . The promo recording Atum Nocturnem was originally intended for Blod's rehearsals, but was released in 1999 through At War Records. After this recording, Drakkar Productions and End All Life Productions contacted Tsjuder, and the band signed a contract for two albums and tours. At the end of 1999, the debut album Kill for Satan was recorded. Due to time constraints and since Blod could not take part in the band's first tour in 2000, Anti Christian took over the drums instead. After the release of Kill for Satan , Arak Draconiiz moved from Oslo and was replaced by Paal.

A year later, in 2001, Anti Christian had to leave the band due to tendonitis in both arms, and Paal left Tsjuder because of his work. Jontho von Ragnarok became the new drummer and the second album Demonic Possession was recorded. In 2003, Anti Christian was able to get back in, Jontho had too much to do with Ragnarok and also lived too far away.

A year later, a contract was signed with Season of Mist and on November 1st, Desert Northern Hell was released . Several concerts followed in 2005, including a European tour with Carpathian Forest . The performances were used to record a live DVD, which was released in 2006 under the name Norwegian Apocalypse . In 2006 the band broke up. According to Draugluin, "there wasn't even a specific reason for the separation"; the band simply sensed "that the time had come to do something else and not pursue Tsjuder any longer". Nag founded the band Krypt with the former Tsjuder drummer Desecrator, Draugluin and Antichristian played together with 1349 bassist Seidemann at Tyrann.

In 2009 the band got together again. In December 2010 Tsjuder was surprisingly confirmed for the Wacken Open Air . The album Legion Helvete followed in 2011 .

style

Nag and Draugluin have been leading the band since Berserk left. The material after Ved Ferden's end is much rougher than the recordings with Berserk. The music is based on traditional Scandinavian Black Metal, without deviating from it through innovations, and has been compared with the early works of Enslaved , Immortal , Gorgoroth , Setherial , Bathory , Celtic Frost and Satyricon . According to Draugluin, a Tsjuder song has to sound “merciless and cold”: “Nowadays many have forgotten that Black Metal has nothing to do with synthetically produced shit that has no black soul but that sells well for it. Black Metal doesn't work without the rough sound and the cold frost on the strings, nothing will change that. "
