Dead (English for dead , not to be confused with Death ) is a German grindcore band from Nuremberg . Dead became famous in the grindcore genre for being the first to play slow grindcore. Before that, Grindcore was inevitably associated with speed. The band is also considered the founder of the so-called Porngrind .

history

The band was founded in 1990 as a goregrind band with death metal influences. Musical role models were in particular the British Carcass and the Austrian Pungent Stench . After the release of the demo , the band got a contract with Poserslaughter Records where the following EPs and the debut album were released. After the release of the EP Slaves to Abysmal Perversity , the music group changed their lyrical orientation. From now on the texts were pervaded by coarse black humor and expanded with increasingly pornographic content. After appearing at the Fuck the Commerce festival, Dead broke up in May 1998 for the time being. In 2001 the band worked together again for a short time for a live performance together before the decision was made three years later to revive Dead . From 2005 the members continued to work with a new record contract with the Japanese label Obliteration Records. In 2009 Uwe left the band and was replaced by Volker.

Their pornographic orientation made them co-founders of the Porngrind, alongside the bands Meat Shits and GUT , in which the lyrics oscillate between humorous and perverse. Numerous other bands were influenced by the concept of these bands such as Cock and Ball Torture .
