Sybreed (a suitcase word of "synthetic breed") was an alternative metal band that was founded in Geneva , Switzerland in 2003 and disbanded in 2013.

history

Founding members were Thomas "Drop" Betrisey ( guitar ) and Benjamin Nominet ( vocals ). The two wanted a band that combined their common love for metal and electronic music . On their first album Slave Design from 2004 Alex Anxonnia ( drums ) and Luis “Burn” Da Silva Cruz ( bass ) also played. On their second album Antares , which was released on the French label Listenable Records , Dirk Verbeuren ( Soilwork , Scarve , Aborted ) played the drums as a session musician .

He was replaced on the latest album The Pulse of Awakening (2009) by Kevin Choiral, who is now a permanent member of the band. Stéphane Grand was also added on bass. Mixing - the sound engineer for the latest album was Rhys Fulber , who is best known for his work on Fear Factory (synths and sound samples) and Front Line Assembly .

On April 7, 2010, the song Doomsday Party was released for free download for the console game Rock Band . In June 2011, Stéphane Grand left the band for personal and professional reasons. He was replaced by Ales Campanelli as a permanent member of the band.

In October 2013, Sybreed announced that singer Benjamin Nominet had left the band. All tour dates have been canceled and the band wants to take a break for the time being. The final end for Sybreed is announced by the band on the official Facebook page with a graphic that reads 2003 † 2013. Former guitarist Thomas "Drop" Betrisey announced that some band members will continue to make music with the Obsydians project .

style

The band's music is characterized by mostly high tempo and a futuristic science fiction atmosphere that is achieved through samples . The music is carried by Benjamin Nominet's mostly aggressive, but sometimes clear vocals. The pace was slowed down a bit on Antares , and more clear vocals were used to give the songs more atmosphere. With The Pulse of Awakening , the band continues the direction they had already taken with Antares . The use of more samples and synthesizers is at the expense of the aggressiveness, in favor of the melody.
