The Austrian Society for Vascular Surgery (Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery), abbreviated to ÖGG, is an Austrian association based in Vienna .

The purpose of the association is to promote research and professional and social development in the field of vascular surgery ; teaching and patient care without striving for economic gain in the sense of the common good for the benefit of the patient. This goal is to be achieved through scientific meetings, personal contacts between members and other means. The activities of the ÖGG extend over the federal territory of Austria .

history

The association was founded in 1968 and in 2011 had around 220 members. As the first German-speaking specialist society, the ÖGG was the godfather of the German Society for Vascular Surgery and the Swiss Society for Vascular Surgery , with which a conference is organized every three years.

Members

The association consists of full members, affiliated members, corresponding members, honorary members and supporting members:

  • Ordinary members can be those domestic and foreign persons who deal with vascular surgery.
  • Affiliated members can become those domestic and foreign persons who deal in research, teaching or practical work with the vascular surgical environment in the broadest sense.
  • To corresponding members meritorious doctors and scientists can be elected by the General Meeting on a proposal of an ordinary member after approval by the Board.
  • To honor members of an ordinary member such personalities can by the General Meeting on a proposal for approval of the Board are elected, the special services have acquired the angiologic-vascular surgery research and the goals of the society.
  • Physical or legal persons as well as companies that have a special interest in the further development of medical science and practice in connection with their business can be accepted as supporting members . Hans von Haberer certificate of honor

The ÖGG awards the Hans von Haberer Certificate of Honor at irregular intervals, which is dedicated to the famous deceased Austrian surgeon Hans von Haberer . The certificate is awarded exclusively to representatives from business and industry for special services and achievements in promoting vascular surgery in Austria.
