Monosurround is a composer live act duo founded in Berlin , consisting of the musicians Erik Schaeffer and Ramtin Asadolahzadeh.
history
In 1999 the musicians Erik Schaeffer and Ramtin Asadolahzadeh met in Berlin and began producing and composing pieces of music that same month. The first joint orders included the film music production of the movies Harte Jungs and LiebesLuder .
In the summer of 2001 I started experimenting with electronic dance music. The first release became a hit within a short time. I Warned You Baby is based on a line of text by the American jazz singer Spanky Wilson . In addition, the song became the official anthem of the SonneMondSterne Festival 2002 near Saalburg-Ebersdorf ( Thuringia ).
Due to the success, both musicians received great feedback from other artists. As a result, Monosurround devoted himself to various remix jobs, including a. for artists like SONO , Phil Fuldner , Da Hool , TISM . Northern Lite or Glamor to Kill .
Work on the musicians' first studio album began in parallel to the live performances. In 2004 the live ambitions of Monosurround took a back seat to the production and further development of the album Hello World .
The first EP, Borschtchick , was released in Germany in 2005 on the label of the band Moonbootica , Moonbootique Records. In January 2006, the Cocked, Locked EP was released in France . This was released on the label of techno musician Vitalic , Citizen Records, and combines Borstschick and the parallel produced song Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock .
Joint appearances with musicians such as Vitalic and The Hacker came about through the release on the French market.
In September 2008 the album Hello World was released in France (Citizen Records). Two months later, in November 2008, it was also published in Germany. The release of the album in Japan is dated for December.
style
The style of Monosurround is subject to constant development. During the earlier years and performances with up to nine instrumentalists, the style most closely resembles a 60 'crossover bigbeat.
From 2001 the sound changes. The first experiments with electronic music begin and an approach to dance music and techno takes place.
The title WE from 2003 shows the stylistic detachment from common music genres. A piece of music that would greatly influence the future sound of Monosurround. With Hello World , Monosurround finally freed itself from stylistic classifications. The album with its 12 songs sees itself as a total work of art that does not want to be restricted to a certain style. This is why Monosurround confidently describes itself as the “best band in the world”. According to their own statement, their musical style can be described as "maximalism" - a genre specially conceived for the band Monosurround.
useful information
In spring 2008, the French beverage producer Perrier licensed Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock for a TV advertising campaign. Since the beginning of 2010 Monosurround have been releasing on their own label MS Records. MS Records is dedicated to the release and distribution of maximalist music.
