Helmut Rausch (born July 4, 1936 in Stolberg (Rhld.) , † December 2, 2013 in Berlin ) was a German entrepreneur and art historian .

Life

After attending school and commercial training in Cologne , Rausch worked for office machine manufacturers such as the Kölner Wanderer-Werke and the Compagnie des Machines Bull from 1956 to 1961 . During this time he met the computer pioneer Heinz Nixdorf , with whom he remained in constant contact until he joined his company in 1968.

In 1961 he became the branch manager of Bull Computer in Berlin with responsibility for business in Eastern Europe. In 1967 he became director of the Kölner Wanderer-Werke, and incorporated it into Nixdorf Computer AG, which was renamed in 1968 and has its headquarters in Paderborn, of which he was appointed director in the same year.

From 1968 to 1982 Helmut Rausch was a member of the board of directors of Nixdorf Computer AG and, in this function, shaped the areas of training and further education, corporate development and cooperation with other companies in the most economically successful period for this model company. With particular commitment, Rausch devoted himself to new technologies, especially in the then over-regulated telecommunications sector, the promotion of entrepreneurial start-ups in the field of information and communication technology as well as new forms of in-company training and the further development of the dual training system.

In 1982 Rausch left the Nixdorf board in order to pursue his own entrepreneurial activities, particularly in the area of ​​promoting entrepreneurial start-ups. He remained associated with Nixdorf Computer AG from 1982 to 1986 as a member of the supervisory board.

From 2000, Helmut Rausch studied art and cultural history at the Humboldt University in Berlin and graduated in 2006 with the master's thesis " Heinrich Wölfflin - an overdue search for clues?" in which a reassessment of the biography of this important art historian is initiated, which is now being continued in a dissertation.

Helmut Rausch was first married to his wife Regine from 1962 to 1986, and the children Christopher and Kathrin result from the marriage. In his second marriage, he has been married to his wife Andrea since 1986, and the children Sonia and Beatrice result from the marriage.
