Georgie Weeratunga
Georgie Weeratunga (civil Georg Weeratunga ; born October 7, 1973 in Göttingen ) is a German music producer , graphic, video and sound designer and front man of the band nude, which he also produces. He is the great-nephew of the singer and music producer Ramesh Weeratunga . Musically he was influenced by The Prodigy .
Life
Weeratunga was born in Göttingen in 1973 . His father is of Sri Lankan descent and his mother is British. At the age of one, his family moved to Exeter , UK. At the age of seven, he and his family finally returned to Germany. Weeratunga got enthusiastic about music and sound from an early age.
From 1991 he worked with Torsten Stenzel . Together with him he made his first steps as a producer, rapper and beatboxer under the alias Lyrical Terrorist , under which he also contributed a single to the albums Technolyt Trax Volume One and Volume Two , which were released in 1991 and 1992 under ZYX Music . The two recordings each comprised further tracks by Weeratunga, which he published under the synonym The Outlaw Posse .
He spent a lot of time in the Frankfurt hip-hop scene in the vicinity of Iz and Tone (Konkret Finn) and refined his beatboxing there , which significantly influenced his style. That same year, he appeared on a track on the album Lava of Rapmusikers Volkan T. with. While producing this track, he also contacted Boulevard Bou and Torch .
In 2004 he contributed the song Mother Earth album of his great-uncle Ramesh Weeratunga called Re-Visited in that on Jubilee Records appeared. From 2005 to 2010 he had musical collaborations with German artists such as 2Raumwohnung and Herbert Grönemeyer , as well as the British Mattafix and the American Xzibit , from which some remixes were created.
In 2006 he was finally included in the existing band nude . A particularly fruitful collaboration with Marc.W and Isabelle.G resulted in the album Fake Credibility in 2006 , Black Box in 2008 and finally in 2010 the main musical work of the band, Basic Guerilla Moves .
In 2013 the track You Had it Coming was selected for the soundtrack of the film Not For Cowards . Also in 2013 he produced a score track for the crowdfunding film The Cosmonaut .
From 2014 to 2015 he worked with the band Transmitter_ . This collaboration resulted in a remix of the song Panic Attack by nude and a ghost track on the new Transmitter album. In 2015 he finally released the single Just ME , on which the tracks Lights Are Out and Too Much can be heard.
