Verlen was a rock band from Kelkheim near Frankfurt am Main .
history
The idea to found a band arose on New Year's Eve 1999/2000 when Christoph " Crib " Vidakovic and Felix Rudorf were both unhappily in love and wanted to express their feelings. The band name was supposed to be "something with Lene and Vera" , so they decided on Verlen . After the first rehearsals with Manuel Graf on drums, he was quickly replaced by Thomas Istvan, in whose cellar the band was now rehearsing.
After Joel Ameloot joined the band as an additional guitarist and singer, Verlen won a two-day studio stay at the MTK Newcomer Festival and recorded the first album Days Like Yesterday , which was released in late 2001. In 2002 drummer Thomas decided to travel to Ecuador for a year and Simon Rauland took his place on drums. In the summer, the second album Beach Life was recorded and the band went on the "Life is a beach" tour.
After Joel's brother Maurizio Ameloot and Daniel Theuerkaufer founded the Frankfurt independent label Waggle-Daggle Records in 2003, the first recordings for Verlen's third album The tour of the broken hearts took place in autumn . Personal reasons led to a delay in production, so that this album was only released in spring 2005 and is considered the band's official debut album .
In the meantime, Felix Rudorf had decided to drop out of his business administration studies and go to Australia for ten months. When looking for a new bass player, the band found Daniel Weil, who had been a fan of the band for a long time and had produced a video for Days like Yesterday in 2002.
On April 22nd, 2006 the band announced on their homepage that the band broke up with Daniel "in good faith by mutual agreement". On May 3, 2006, the old bassist , Felix Rudorf, a former founding member who had spent a year abroad and had previously been involved in all of Verlen's albums, was introduced as the new bass player .
In 2005 the band played 50 concerts all over Germany. a. at Trebur Open Air and, as the winner of the Ringrocker Contest, also at Rock am Ring .
At the beginning of August 2006 the band announced that they wanted to "take a break. That means Verlen won't do anything for the next six months to the whole year. Neither in the rehearsal room nor on stage. We came to the decision because we at one point where we can't go any further. "The last concert before the band's break took place on September 9, 2006 in Hofheim.
On December 23, 2008, the band officially presented their new double album after almost two years of production. It was published in early 2009 with the title "Verlen". Since then, Verlen have been recording new titles and playing at several festivals and band competitions.
After the album "Blood And Gold For Everyone" was released in 2011, Verlen only played a few concerts, most recently in 2015. Since then, there has been a sad radio silence on all channels. The verlen.de website can no longer be accessed.
