Band history
Under the name Caught in the Crack , the musicians of the later Antilopen Gang released a parodistic gangsta rap album in 2005 and 2008 . Panik Panzer was called Brrrakkk Spencer , Koljah Johnny Volldepp and Danger Dan Dan Juan de Marcos . These albums can be downloaded for free on the band's website. Other members of the Anti Alles Aktion at that time had guest appearances, including NMZS ( Young Geezus ).
The Antilopen Gang was founded in 2009 by the rappers Danger Dan, Koljah, NMZS and Panik Panzer. All four were previously part of the Anti Alles Aktion (AAA) formation, Danger Dan and Panik Panzer are also siblings. The rappers gave various curious and ironic explanations about the band name in interviews (for example, they already told of an inspiring restaurant visit with antelope meat or formative experiences in scout groups).
The first album Spastik Desaster was released as a free download at the turn of the year 2009/2010. The group became known through the internet hit Fick die Uni . Afterwards, various solo and collab albums by the group members were released. The Antilopen Gang toured in German-speaking countries. In March 2013, NMZS committed suicide ; the band initially fell into a crisis. His solo album The Disgusting was published posthumously by his band colleagues .
In 2014, the Antilopen Gang signed a contract with the JKP label of the band Die Toten Hosen . On October 24, 2014, the download single Beate Zschäpe Listen U2 was released , which deals with the extremism of the center and the resurgence of right-wing extremism in Germany .
The moderator Ken Jebsen as the operator of the KenFM portal, also mentioned in the play, warned the band. The antelope gang was "amused [...] that precisely the guy who constantly shoots the most adventurous accusations and wildest theories against political opponents immediately pulls out the heaviest legal artillery and throws punishment threats around himself if he feels himself affected. “When Jebsen applied for an injunction against the band at the Cologne Regional Court , the chamber questioned his claim with regard to“ statements made by the applicant in the past ”and“ with special consideration ”of the fundamental right to artistic freedom , whereupon he withdrew his application in early December 2014 . He was ordered to pay both the court and legal fees of the antelope gang members.
On November 7, 2014, the album Aversion was released through JKP and distributed by Warner Music Group . The album is dedicated to NMZS.
In 2015 the band won the New Music Award as well as the VIA Award in the “Best Newcomer” category and was awarded the Amadeu Antonio Prize . For Die Partei (The PARTY) antelopes took passage in 2015, together with the already entered for the PARTY in appearance musicians Bela B and Slime the party song on. It is a parody of the SED party's song and is used in commercials and at events.
In January 2017, the band announced that in addition to the new album anarchy and everyday twelve old songs have rearranged as punk rock versions and added and this with the participation of guest singers from the (German) punk scene as a bonus album under the name atomic bomb on Germany published will. The album entered the German music charts at number one .
In 2017, the Antilopen Gang was nominated for the Echo (music award) in the “National Critics Award” category with their album Anarchy and Everyday Life . In addition, the band announced that they would stay away from the 2017 Echo Awards, as their favorite TV show Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei ran that evening , which they did not want to miss.
Her fourth album Abbruch Abbruch was released on January 24, 2020.
