The German three-cushion championship 1966/67 (DDM) was the 33rd edition of this tournament series and took place from January 13th to 15th, 1967 in Gelsenkirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

Playroom in the Liebfrauenstift

For the first time the DDM was held in Gelsenkirchen. The venue was the hall of the Liebfrauenstift, the host was the "Billardkreis Gelsenkirchen / Wattenscheid" which with its 450 members was one of the largest in Germany at the time. The opening ceremony started with a delay of half an hour, because the ZDF was not finished with the recordings of all participants earlier. The patron was Lord Mayor Hubert Scharley , whose representative, Councilor Willi Müller, gave the opening speech.

The field of participants had shrunk from the previous year to eight players. Defending champion and favorite was again August Tiedtke from Duisburg . His younger brother Gert also took part again, although his game was more the billiard artistique .

Tournament course

In the first round, August Tiedtke (60 photos), Ernst Rudolph (77), Gert Tiedtke (65) and Rudolf Apelt won 72 photos. Albert Schimanek achieved the highest series of the tournament (HS) of 8 points, but in the end he had to bow to Gert Tiedtke with 60:54. In the second round, however, he scored against Apelt with 60:59 (103 shots). Rudolph lost against Heinz Müller with 49:60 (68), Gert Tiedtke lost against Joseph Bücken 59:60 (84), August Tiedtke alone was able to get through his game against Erich Heinrichs and now took the top spot. This was to change in lap three: Bicken gave him a defeat and thus became a favorite scare, which Rudolph would also experience later. With this defeat of the leader, Rudolph, Apelt, G. Tiedtke and said Bücken were tied for first place in the table. With that the tournament was open again. On the other places followed Müller and Schimanek with one victory each and Heinrichs as the only one without a win until then. In the fourth round, however, he was finally able to get his first win against Apelt. G. Tiedtke lost against Rudolph with 59:60 (94), Bücken lost against Müller with 58:60 (84) and A. Tiedtke won with 60:39 (71) against Schimanek. The fifth round should decide whether there was an exciting final. For the six-time German champion Rudolph this round was fatal when the favorite scare Bücken clearly defeated him with 60:46, so he had no chance of the title. Heinrichs has now won his second victory against Schimanek and G. Tiedtke moved up to third place in the table with his victory over Müller. His brother won his game against Apelt in 53 excellent recordings (BED 1,132). His average would have been even better if, to the delight of the audience, he hadn't taken a few balls as an art push and they only just failed to materialize. The last lap was scheduled for Sunday morning. At the request of A. Tiedtke, and with the consent of his opponent Rudolph, the match was played on Saturday evening at 10:00 p.m. Tiedtke won 60:47 in 61 shots. At the next table, Schimanek won against Müller in 80 shots with 60:51. The two remaining games of this round were played the next morning. G. Tiedtke lost 57:60 against Apelt in 57 shots and Bücken won against Heinrichs with 60:42 (94), which meant that second place was almost certain for him. The hall was completely sold out for the final round on Sunday afternoon. The pairings were Rudolph / Apelt and Heinrichs / Müller. Rudolph had to give up another game, this time with 52:60 in 72 shots and Heinrichs was able to win his third game (60:35 in 65). Apelt had moved to third place in the table, because Gert Tiedtke lost against his brother with 36:60 in 56 shots. Again, he could have played a better average if he hadn't done some art picks again. Bücken continued his triumphant advance and beat Schimanek with 60:55 in 85 shots, pushed himself in front of Apelt and became runner-up.

Honors

The honorary member of the DBB , Curt Berendt, awarded the patron and mayor Hubert Scharley the "Golden Badge of Honor" for his services and achievements in billiards. The subsequent award ceremony was held by Berendt, Scharley and the regional association chairman Kirchmeier together.

mode

It played "everyone against everyone" ( round robin mode ) to 60 points with a push .
