The German Three Cushion Championship 1962 (DDM) was the 29th edition of this tournament series and took place from November 30th to December 3rd, 1961 in Oberhausen , North Rhine-Westphalia .
history
For the first time in the championship history, the tournament took place in Oberhausen.
After August Tiedtke did not take part in the previous championship, he won his 17th title in 25 years, once again unbeaten. This once again showed his superiority as the best German player at the time. The favored Ernst Rudolph from Cologne had to accept a defeat in his encounter against Norbert Witte from Essen. The second tricky encounter, it took place on Saturday evening as a live broadcast on television, against August Tiedge, he then clearly lost with 38:60 in 70 recordings. This time, the runner-up was only able to take third place behind Witte. August's brother Gert , actually an artisan player , he once again looked embarrassed by the presence of his brother, could not withstand the high level of play in this discipline and was only penultimate.
A new but old championship participant was old master Georg Berrisch, who became German champion for the first time 30 years ago. His game against Joachim Eiter from Münster was a bit unfortunate. Berrisch had already finished his game when Eiter managed to tie a " fox " in the second kick on the decisive ball . This lost point prevented him from getting better.
mode
It played "everyone against everyone" ( round robin mode ) to 60 points with a push.
