The German Three Cushion Championship 1961 (DDM) was the 28th edition of this tournament series and took place from February 23 to 26 in Wanne-Eickel , North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

For the first time the championship was held in Wanne-Eickel. Lord Mayor Edmund Weber opened the tournament, of which he was also the patron.

In addition to the six qualifiers in the “Special Class”, Ernst Rudolph , Siegfried Spielmann , Norbert Witte, Rudolf Apelt, Erich Heinrichs and Joachim Eiter, the two first-placed winners of the “First Class Federal Championship”, Joseph Bücken and Günther Delbrouck, joined the team. Defending champion August Tiedtke did not take part and thus missed the chance of his 17th German three-cushion title. The winner was runners-up for the third time, Rudolph from Cologne.

In the game between Oberhausen Witte and Apelt, it quickly seemed like a preliminary decision in favor of Oberhausen, he only needed four points to win when the referee made two wrong decisions. Witte was visibly depressed, got tangled up in his game and then lost the game 58:60 in 91 shots.

mode

It played "everyone against everyone" ( round robin mode ) to 60 points with a push .
