The German Three Cushion Championship 1940 (DDM) was the twelfth edition of this tournament series and took place for the second and last time from March 6th to 9th in Remscheid , North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

For the first time the championship took place during wartime. The number of participants fell to eight (previous year: 10).

After his suspension was lifted, August Tiedtke from Duisburg took part in the tournament again and was successful for the fourth time. Georg Berrisch, the "eternal runner-up", was runner-up for the fifth time and was never able to match his only title win in 1931. Defending champion Ernst Rudolph from Cologne was only able to take fourth place after a tie (8: 6) with Walter Feller due to the poor general average (GD). The five-time title holder Otto Unshelm came in fifth.

After the end of the regular games, Tiedtke and Berrisch came to a tie of 12: 2 and so a playoff game had to decide the winner. The Duisburg won this with 50:34 in 83 shots. Walter Feller screwed Berrisch's tournament record for the best individual average (ED) in 1932 from 0.980 to 1.111, making him the first player to exceed the 1,000 mark.

mode

It played "everyone against everyone" ( round-robin mode ) to 50 points with a push.
