The German Three Cushion Championship 1954 (DDM) was the 22nd edition of this tournament series and took place from June 10th to 13th in Nuremberg , Bavaria .
history
The field of participants, with the exception of Walter Lütgehetmann , arrived on time. As it turned out, the engine had broken down and was delayed by several hours. Although the first games had already been played when he arrived, the tournament management let him participate and in the end he finished third.
Siegfried Spielmann from Düsseldorf set a new tournament record in his game against Ernst Rudolph from Cologne . Spielmann raised the series record set by August Tiedtke in 1935 from 11 by four points to 15. Spielmann had also surpassed Tiedge's German record from last year's World Cup in Antwerp by 12 points. Stormy applause and congratulations led to an interruption of the tournament, which could only be continued after the minute-long ovations had subsided . Since then, this record has still been valid for the DDM and has not yet been set by any player (as of August 2013) . Despite his best efforts, his opponent lost very narrowly in the end with 49:50. Spielmann lost his only match, with 25:50, against August Tiedtke. He won his 13th title and the ninth in a row without losing victory, a record that is still valid today.
mode
It played "everyone against everyone" ( round-robin mode ) to 50 points with a push . Third place was not played out.
