The German three-cushion championship in 1929 was a billiards tournament series and took place in Mainz for the first time from April 28 to 29 .
history
One year after the first three-cushion world championship in 1928 in Reims , France , in which the German Otto Unshelm took third place, three-cushion championships were now also held at the national level, but without the Unshelm. This only took part in the second championship, which he also won.
Nothing is known about the first German champion and so his first name has not been researched to this day. He is said to have played for Dortmund and later moved to his estate near Münster and not have grown old.
Many players and spectators were rather critical of the first German championship. As the German billiard elite only played cadre so far , their suitability in three cushion was questioned, which led to the unusually short distance of only 20 points being played. Because of the very short distance, some good German billiards players were also missing. Among other things, the three- cushion champion Otto Unshelm stayed away from the tournament for the next few years . With a performance like the one at the 1928 World Cup, he would probably have won the tournament.
mode
It played "everyone against everyone" ( round robin mode ) to 20 points.
