The German Three Cushion Championship 1956 (DDM) was the 24th edition of this tournament series and took place from April 13th to 15th in Aachen , North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

Due to scheduling difficulties of the Remscheid team , the Aachen “Billard Sport Club” took over the organization. The game was played in the " Alten Kurhaus " on Couvenstrasse. For the first time, ivory balls were played at a DDM. This time Siegfried Spielmann from Düsseldorf could not take part because he had just returned from Barcelona from the Free Game European Championship , at which he was vice European champion.

Walter Lütgehetmann played the highest series (HS) of the tournament with 10 points in his second match against Heinz Helm . After August Tiedtke was unable to take part in the previous year, he was back again, but got into his old swing late. Against his brother Gert he could hardly win with 50:42, but lost his game against Ernst Rudolph with 49:50 as close as possible and had to be content with second place behind Rudolph. This was his second runner-up (1941) since his first participation in 1936, otherwise he had won all 15 three-cushion championships so far. For Rudolph it was his third title. After his runner-up in the previous year, the Frankfurt Lütgehetmann won his second bronze medal. Gert Tiedtke played a good tournament up to the third game with a general average (GD) of 0.706, so he was tied with his brother, Lütgehetmann and Rudolph, until he broke the cue tip in the next game. He had to survive the following games "battered" and fell back accordingly. In the end, he only got the penultimate place.

mode

It played "everyone against everyone" ( round-robin mode ) to 50 points with a push .
