The German three-cushion championship in 1933 was the fifth edition of this tournament series and took place from November 15 to 17, 1932 in Berlin .

history

For the first time two German championships were played within one year. This tournament belonged to the 1932/33 season, with the first championship still belonging to the previous 1931/32 season. The reason was the newly introduced three-cushion European championship , which was to take place in Amsterdam from November 25th to 28th and only the German champions were allowed to compete. So the championship, which was actually planned for the date usually reserved in spring, was brought forward. The organizer was the Berlin senior government councilor Albert Poensgen , one of the best German billiards players of his time.

Café Woerz

The game was played in Café Woerz, which was also the billiards academy on Berlin's Nollendorfplatz , at two tables that were equipped with the new Contintental tournament boards and allowed a “lively” board tee. Not only did the tournament enjoy a large audience, but it was also broadcast on the radio. For the first time, the Ufa film company shot a program about the championship, which was later shown in all theaters as part of the Ufa newsreel . The actors Poensgen and Otto Unshelm impressively solved some difficult designs .

Again, traditional Otto Unshelm and Georg Berrisch a "head-to-head", but also the winner of the first tournament in 1929, B. Kesting, was equally strong, so that all three at the end of a tie of 10: had the second For the first time had to decide on the placement among the three stitch games. Those two won Unshelm and Kesting lost both.

The oldest participant was Heinrich Rütten from Rheydt at the age of 61 .

mode

It played "everyone against everyone" ( round robin mode ) to 50 points.
