The German Three Cushion Championship 1989/90 (DDM) was the 56th edition of this tournament series and took place from September 7th to 10th, 1989 in Wuppertal .

history

The local organizer and host on behalf of the German Billard Association (DBB) were the Barmer Billardfreunde 1929 . The tournament was played in the sports hall at Heckinghauser Strasse.

The DM in Wuppertal was a championship of surprises. Defending champion Günter Siebert was only eleventh and the eight-time German three-cushion champion Dieter Müller , who took part in a three-cushion DM again after four years, failed in the group phase. Hans-Jürgen Kühl, who played for BF Horster-Eck Essen in 1959 , became German champion for the second time in Wuppertal ahead of technology specialist Wolfgang Zenkner from Munich. The 24-year-old Christian Rudolph from Cologne , who plays for Düsseldorf in the Bundesliga, won his first DM medal with bronze.

The results in the German Billard-Zeitung, now called Billard-Sport, were very incomplete.

mode

The game was played in four preliminary round groups. The first in the group qualified for the semi-finals. The whole tournament was played in the set system up to 15 points with two winning sets in the group games and three winning sets in the knockout round with follow -up. The final placement was based on the following criteria:

  1. Match points (MP)
  2. Sentence points (SP)
  1. General average (GD)
  1. Maximum series (HS)
