The German Three Cushion Championship 1941 (DDM) was the thirteenth edition of this tournament series and took place for the third time from April 29th to May 4th in Berlin .

history

It was the second "War Championship" and the third in Berlin. The number of participants rose again to ten players, but, unlike in 1939, no preliminary round or group stage was played.

Defending champion August Tiedtke had to bow to the five-time title holder Otto Unshelm , who won his sixth and last title without losing power, 18-0. The winner of 1931, Georg Berrisch, got his first bronze medal after five runners-up. Tiedtke was able to break the record set by Berrisch in the previous year in the best individual average (BED) and improve it by 0.204 to 1.315. This record was to last until 1971 when Dieter Müller should play a BED of 1.428. This, too, once again describes the Duisburger's extraordinary playing strength.

For the first time, the rules governing post-picks, which were introduced in 1937 , took effect , and two games ended in a draw . Gerd Thielens and Walter Krüger came to a tie of 9: 9, Karl Conen and Karl Breitweg to 3:15. However, this did not play a role in the evaluation. The decision was made on the better general average (GD).

After 1939, Franz Engl from Vienna again took part in a German championship for the second and last time , still possible due to the existing annexation of Austria .

mode

It played "everyone against everyone" ( round-robin mode ) to 50 points with a push.
