The German three-cushion championship 1987/88 (DDM) was the 54th edition of this tournament series and took place from November 25th to 26th, 1987 in Berlin .
The local organizer and host on behalf of the German Billiards Association (DBB) was BC International Berlin, on whose premises the tournament was also held.
After the defeat in the group stage against defending champion Edgar Bettzieche, Günter Siebert started his triumphal march. There were three wins in the knockout round. In the final, he even won the third and thus decisive set against local hero Christian Zollner 15-0. With this, Siebert secured his fifth German championship title in three cushion. The game for third place was won by Norbert Ohagen from Essen with a 2-1 set win against Hans Diermeier from Berlin.

The game was played in four preliminary round groups. The two best in the group qualified for the quarter-finals. The whole tournament was played in a set system up to 15 points with two winning sets with follow -up. The final placement was based on the following criteria:
